Xperien, a leading IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) company, has launched its auction website – a platform designed to facilitate the sale of bulk used technology, specifically targeting IT resellers and refurbishers across Africa.

With a satellite office strategically located in Dubai DMCC, Xperien is set to expand its reach and compete with established players in the Dubai market.

Xperien CEO Wale Arewa says the launch of this auction site is a significant step towards fostering a circular economy within the IT industry. “By giving used computers a second life, Xperien’s auction platform directly contributes to the reduction of electronic waste (e-waste), aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.”

“Used computer auctions can have a transformative impact on our environment and society. By extending the lifespan of electronic devices, we not only reduce e-waste but also create jobs and bridge the digital divide, ensuring more people have access to technology,” he explains.

The platform aims to extend the life cycle of electronic devices, preventing them from being prematurely discarded and reducing the environmental impact of e-waste. Discarded electronics can leach hazardous materials into the environment, posing significant risks to human health.

By reselling these devices, Xperien is committed to minimising this risk and promoting sustainable practices.

More importantly, the refurbishment and resale of used computers require a diverse range of skills, creating employment opportunities across the supply chain. From procurement and technical refurbishment to logistics, business administration, and sales, Xperien’s auction platform supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by driving job creation in emerging markets.

Arewa says by offering affordable computers through its auction site, Xperien is playing a crucial role in bridging the digital divide. “Access to low-cost technology increases digital literacy and provides underserved communities with the tools needed to participate in the digital economy.”

This initiative supports SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities and SDG 4: Quality Education, empowering individuals and small businesses alike.

It provides IT resellers and refurbishers with a cost-effective solution for purchasing bulk used technology. The site’s competitive pricing model enables smaller businesses to thrive in the refurbished computer market, contributing to a more equitable and sustainable global economy.
