Have you heard about Vodacom’s VodaPay Super App? It’s a one-stop-shop for online transactions and has recently partnered with the daily deals eCommerce site, OneDayOnly.co.za. Online shoppers will now be able to make payments via the VodaPay app, which is accessible to customers on any mobile network.

Why use the app to shop?

Because accessibility is the heart of this initiative, OneDayOnly and VodaPay provide access to both their app and payment solutions even when you don’t have data, so you never miss a deal.

The variety of vendors available help to bridge the eCommerce “gap” in South Africa, where less than 50% of consumers remain underserviced due to several factors. A data-free one-stop-shop means that more consumers can access more of their favorite brands quicker, cheaper, and without hassle.

Cash-free transactions make the platform even more accessible to the South African consumer (from a secure app, of course). This means consumers can shop on the go without needing to take their wallets with them.

Last year Vodacom announced a partnership with digital payments provider Alipay to build a super app that would allow South African consumers to shop, make payments, and send money. It did not take long for South African businesses to jump at this opportunity and, to date, roughly 70 businesses have signed up or committed to building their own VodaPay Mini Programs within the app.

Mariam Cassim, Vodacom’s Chief Officer of Financial and Digital Services says, “The VodaPay Mini Program initiative supports our commitment to propel financial inclusion and economic growth in South Africa. Vodacom is using this technology to develop inclusive mobile solutions for thousands of South African consumers and merchants.

“Through Vodacom’s transformation from a telco to a full-technology company, we’re eager to partner with organizations like OneDayOnly, as well as creative and dynamic developers, businesses, and innovative technology start-ups,” Cassim adds.

“The explosive growth of online shopping in SA over the last 2 years has meant that shoppers are becoming savvier than ever and we need to make sure we are doing whatever we can to keep up with our customer’s needs,” says Laurian Venter, Director for OneDayOnly. Commenting on the OneDayOnly.co.za subscribers she says, “by partnering with Vodacom we are reaching a much wider audience, creating brand awareness, and attracting new shoppers.”
