TECNO is constantly looking to make more smartphones and smart accessories and wearables available in South Africa for its fans. This was one of the key takeaway messages from the brand’s #TECNOshowcase event, which took place on 02 November at Levelthree in Sandton.
Some of the highlights of the event included the local unveiling of the TECNO Megabook T1 i5 laptop, and a powerbank, both of which are tentatively coming to South Africa in future.
The TECNO Megabook T1 i5 boasts an ultra-slim, featherweight design with a massive 70Wh battery that lasts for up to 17.5 hours of continuous use. The battery is backed up by a 65W charger that translates to fast charging, while large memory and storage enhance the user experience further. A vivid display, which is still comfortable on the eyes, and a cutting-edge holographic sound system developed by TECNO Audio Lab round out the key specs. And yes, it does have enough USB ports for all your needs.
Regarding the powerbank, the specific model that will be introduced into the market is still to be confirmed, but on display at the event was a 20000mAh model. No matter which one though, the powerbank will add to the increasing portfolio of smart AIoT products that are available to local fans.
In addition to a formal presentation at the event, there was also a product display of TECNO’s latest devices including SPARK 10 Series smartphones, TECNO Sonic 1 Active True Wireless Earphones, TECNO Watch 2, TECNO Square S3 speaker, and TECNO 4G Portable WiFi TR109 router. There was also a tease of a launch of a much-anticipated TECNO smartphone in South Africa early next year, though the brand declined to reveal the model at this stage.
A Bumper Year for TECNO
The two main focuses for TECNO in the past year have been the launch of the new SPARK 10 Series of smartphones in the country, along with, for the first time ever, the introduction of smart accessories and wearables for South African fans. The SPARK 10 Series devices were taken to the streets with activations at shopping malls and university campuses popping up across the country. Meanwhile the smart accessory that has proven to be the most popular in South Africa is the TECNO Buds 3 earphones.
