Following our look at HUAWEI’s Petal Maps recently, we now take a look at the Chinese company’s official search engine app, namely Petal Search, which is available in more than 170 countries and regions and supports over 50 languages. This app allows users to conveniently and instantly find the information and services they need on their smart mobile devices running EMUI (or iOS).
Petal Search offers search capabilities across categories such as news, videos, images, shopping, and local business. This means you can use it like Google search or Bing to look up info for a romantic restaurant nearby for your Valentine’s Day dinner, entertainment activities for the family, or simply the latest trending news or current affairs titbits.\
Through leveraging the AI capabilities on your HUAWEI smartphone or tablet, Petal Search is also able to enable users to search by taking photos or images through its visual search function, which works a treat and is already almost as accurate as Bing Image search for example. It recognises a wide range of objects such as people, animals, and landmarks, and HUAWEI is working on additional features to be introduced down the line, including new capabilities such as the ability to identify various types of plants so you can see if that mysterious tree on the property you just bought is indeed a fig tree as you suspect. Another handy feature coming down the pipeline will be the ability to take a photo of the dish at the abovementioned Valentine’s Day restaurant in order for Petal Search to provide the recipe for you to integrate in your own home cooking repertoire.
As with Petal Maps, HUAWEI’s Petal Search is built with security and privacy in mind, since it adheres to strict privacy and copyright protection standards. Moreover, Petal Search has been certified by the European Privacy Seal for GDPR compliance.
However, for us, the best part of Petal Search is the fact that it partners fantastically with HUAWEI’s AppGallery, the third biggest mobile ecosystem of applications. So, if you cannot find an app on the company’s AppGallery, you simply search for it via Petal Search to get an APK (like we did for Fortnite) or other alternative source and Bob’s your Uncle, you can get it right from your search results – quite handy.
All in all, this feature set, along with the app being easy to access and use, will make HUAWEI’s Petal Search an indispensable tool for HUAWEI smart mobile device users.
