SAP Africa has announced the appointment of industry veteran James Wilson as its new Head of Communications for the sub-Saharan Africa region. Wilson succeeds Delia Sieff, who has assumed an executive role in the office of SAP’s regional president.

Cathy Smith, Managing Director at SAP Africa, says the ability to communicate clearly and build trust with stakeholders is critical to the success of modern organisations. “James’ expert communication skills, keen insight and extensive experience will be invaluable assets to SAP as we continue our cloud transformation to support a growing ecosystem of customers and partners across the continent.”

Wilson joins after spending eight years at global tech and health PR firm WE Communications, where he had served as the managing director of the South Africa market unit before assuming a regional business development role that spanned the EMEA region.

As Head of Communications for Africa, he is responsible for internal, external and executive communications across SAP’s Africa region. His primary focus will be the juggling of multiple stakeholders’ agendas, delivering on the breadth and depth of SAP’s extensive offering. Customers and partners are also a core ingredient to the communication mix – and successfully leveraging and telling these stories, clearly and simply, is mission critical to SAP’s storytelling journey.

“SAP is a multi-layered business that means different things to different people,” says Wilson. “The challenge will be to push SAP’s powerful cloud narrative, while continuing to communicate around the broader SAP brand.”
