Following its sales success of the KWID in South Africa, Renault announces a limited edition variant of the hatchback in the KWID Xtreme. The KWID Xtreme boasts enhanced design by means of an exterior styling pack, which incorporates chrome exterior accents including an insert for the front grille, fog lamp surrounds, front bumper garnish and a tailgate strip.
In addition, this model features distinctive detailed bumper protectors that are designed to protect the bumpers’ corners from scuffs and scrapes. Sporty black rails have also been fitted on the roof, while a set of black plastic mud flaps added to protect the body of the KWID Xtreme from mud and water.
On the inside, buyers will find a MediaNav navigation/multimedia system complete with large 7″ touchscreen display, radio and Bluetooth connectivity, all housed in its piano black centre console with chrome surround (Dynamique & Xtreme Limited Edition only).
Renault has also equipped the KWID Xtreme with 14″ rims and tyres, as well as funky bespoke decals. Furthermore, features such as rear parking distance control to guide the driver into even the tightest of parking spots, and the Lock-On Drive system, which automatically locks the doors at 20 km/h, for added security are standard on this variant. In terms of other safety features, buyers get a Driver Airbag, Pro-sense front seat belts, high mounted brake lights, electric power steering, and an engine immobiliser.
Like the rest of the KWID model range, the KWID Xtreme is powered by a new 1.0 litre Smart Control efficiency (SCe) engine that has been mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The compact innovative SCe engine has been optimised for power and performance according to the French car maker and pushes out peak power of 50kW at 5 500 RPM and maximum torque of 91 Nm at 4 250 RPM.
The new Renault KWID Xtreme 1.0-litre SCe will set you back R149 900, which includes a five year or 150 000 km mechanical warranty and a six year anti-corrosion warranty. Services take place at 15 000 km intervals, with optional service plans available.
