While laptops powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus and Elite chips such as ASUS’s own stunning Vivobook S5507 might be the bells of the ball nowadays, enabling Windows 11 running notebook PCs to boast MacBook level battery performance while still being snappy and fully featured, the majority of working professionals still require powerful x86 powered laptops to securely and reliably run their mix of legacy software and modern apps on the daily.
The all-new ExpertBook P1 laptop caters to this audience of administrators and budget-conscious professionals who require essential computing services without compromise, powered by a 13th Gen Intel Core i5 processor, coupled with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB worth of storage with dual-SSD RAID support for improved data reliability and faster operation.
In terms of security, this laptop sports a built-in fingerprint sensor and TPM 2.0 chip to protect privacy and business data ― ensuring that ExpertBook P1 is a trusted, reliable traveling companion for modern workflows. ExpertBook P1 also sports enterprise-grade firmware security that complies with NIST BIOS integrity guidelines, with the strengthened root-of-trust security measure that ensure no intrusion attempt goes unnoticed. In addition, there’s hardware-level protection against malware and sophisticated cyberattacks through Trusted Platform Module 2.0 (TPM 2.0), with this advanced security framework including downgrade protection to prevent BIOS rollbacks, securing the system against potential exploits. According to ASUS, rapid recovery is also made possible by storing custom settings within the BIOS in the event of firmware corruption.
For added peace of mind, ASUS’s ExpertBook P1 is also compliant with the Windows Secured-core PC standard, providing on-by-default security that provides employees and the businesses they work for with the confidence they need, knowing their data is safe, without the need for users to make adjustments.
Peace of mind from a drop point of view for staff on the road like marketing and sales team members, it emanates from this notebook PC being engineered with military-grade durability to ensure that it’s able to withstand the rigors of modern life – in the office, at home or on the road.
This new laptop also boasts a comfortable keyboard with full-sized keycaps for unrivaled input experiences ― maximizing efficiency and productivity through every working moment. The Spill-resistant Keyboard also offers a nice comfortable 1.35mm Key-travel whilst the laptop further features a comforting amount of ports including two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C support display / power delivery, a HDMI 1.4 port, a 3.5mm Combo Audio Jack, plus a RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet. All this wrapped up in a good-looking if not stylish and suitably portable (35.95 x 23.22 x 1.99 cm; 1.61 kg) frame. On the topic of good-looking, you consume content via the ExpertBook P1’s Non-touch screen that measures 15.6-inches and it packs a FHD (1920 x 1080) resolution, multimedia-friendly 16:9 aspect ratio with a wide viewing angle. Moreover, it is an Anti-glare display that does somewhat play a part in minimising glare under the harshest of office lighting environments, but this LED Backlit screen only goes up to 300nits of brightness so does not light up quite enough to be all that comfortably used outdoors in direct Mzansi summer sunlight.
Configurations start from as little as R8200 from local retailers such as Matrix Warehouse and go up from there depending on factors such as storage space, i5 or i7 CPU, RAM amount etc. Quite a good deal in our opinion.
