HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, has announced that Android 9 Pie is arriving on the recently launched Nokia 7.1. With this upgrade, Nokia 7.1 joins the family of three other Nokia smartphones – Nokia 7 plus, Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 – running the latest Android 9 Pie OS.

Soon after the phone’s launch on October 4th, Android 9 Pie arrives on the Nokia 7.1 which offers fans flagship features without a premium price tag. The Nokia 7.1 is the first Nokia smartphone to come with PureDisplay screen technology, taking viewing experience to the next level due to its high contrast ratio, greater clarity and enhanced colours across all content.

The phone’s stunning HDR display lies within a masterfully crafted, gorgeous design and offers an advanced imaging experience powered by a dual rear depth sensing camera with 2PD and ZEISS Optics to ensure moments are never missed.

From this week, Android 9 Pie brings Nokia 7.1 owners a whole new set of features, including App Actions, a brand new feature to Android and exclusive to Android One devices and Google Pixel phones.

  • App Actions – Helps get things done faster by predicting the user’s next move and displaying   the right action
  • Slices – Identifies relevant information of favourite apps to make them more easily   accessible when required
  • Adaptive Battery ​– Uses deep learning to understand usage patterns and prioritise battery power on important apps
  • Adaptive Brightness ​– Automatically adapts phone brightness by learning from user interactions with different settings
  • New system navigation​ – Features a single home button that provides intelligent predictions  and suggestions (user enabled)

Digital Wellbeing features available now via Play Store

  • Dashboard – Highlights screen time and phone usage including how many times device has  been unlocked and number of notifications received
  • App Timers ​– Set time limits on app usage
  • Wind Down and Do Not Disturb​ – Set a daily schedule to get ready for bed. The screen fades to grayscale, while Do Not Disturb silences notifications for a restful sleep. Users can activate Do Not Disturb anytime they want to disconnect.

The Nokia 7.1 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform which delivers first-class graphics performance and battery efficiency enhancements, allowing Nokia smartphone users to enjoy audio and video for even longer.
