After announcing Windows 11 back in June, Microsoft has now revealed that Windows 11 will start to become available on 5 October 2021. The Redmond-based software giant stated on a blogpost written by Aaron Woodman, General Manager for Windows Marketing that “the free upgrade to Windows 11 will begin rolling out to eligible Windows 10 PCs and PCs that come pre-loaded with Windows 11 will start to become available for purchase.”
The company is working closely with its OEM- (original equipment manufacturer) and retail partners and said that it expects all eligible devices to be offered the free upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022.
On the upgrade rollout, the company noted that, “The free upgrade will be phased and measured with a focus on quality. New eligible devices will be offered the upgrade first, then it’ll roll out over time to in-market devices based on: intelligence models that consider hardware eligibility, reliability metrics, age of device and other factors that impact the upgrade experience.”
