As 2022 winds down and the countdown to the holiday season begins, lovers of good food, entertainment and fun will be looking for the perfect way to unwind, soak up some South African sun, and welcome summer in Mzansi. Experience some of this Mzansi magic on 3 December from 10:00AM to 10:30PM, when Summer in the City Unplugged takes place at Waterfall City Park.

Summer in the City Unplugged is closely aligned to the Waterfall City brand cornerstones, whereby attendees can connect in a leisure setting and be exposed to the thriving Waterfall City community.

Whether you are young or old, looking for adventure or just in the mood for some live entertainment and good food, Summer in the City has you covered.

For instance, coffee aficionados and aspirant baristas can sample high-quality beverages at Flat White Coffee. At the same time, meat-loving foodies can head over to Wild Food Company, The Shawarma guys or the Espetada Wagon for some authentic Madeiran- inspired Espetadas.

If you are on the lookout for hand-crafted produce, then Artisanal Spice will cater to you with a range of dressings, spice blends, sauces and pickles to purchase.

Other vendors include LTT Fragrances, where fans of luxurious scents will be able to pick up perfumes, colognes, scented candles and diffusers at affordable prices.

Dialling up the fun to 11 with a few of Mzansi’s hottest live acts

When it’s time to burn off all the calories, the live acts at Summer in the City Unplugged will enable eventgoers to do just that. Again, a number of acts will be on board to cater to varying tastes, including an opening acoustic set from Simone Govender, who will take the audience on a musical trip across genres, generations, and geographies from smooth local jazz hits from the ‘70s and ‘80s, as well as reggae, soul, chill, world, and trip-hop being listed amongst her repertoires.

Africa Soul specialises in breathing new life into pure soul and blues classics. The group takes songs from the ‘50s/’60s era of Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding and other icons of the time, giving those ‘old’ classics a ‘modern’ rebirth.

Another headline act is Karma Luna, whose sound is a melting pot of musical influences ranging from ambient pop to trap, resulting in a unique and striking auditory experience.
