Frogfoot RISE, the provider of prepaid, uncapped internet access in Vrygrond, Philippi and more recently Masiphumelele in the Western Cape, teamed up with internet service provider, Hypa Fibre at Vox, to give back to local communities last week.

The teams helped to give Projekt Ubuntu a fresh coat of paint. This facility is becoming a vital support hub in the area, with art and recycling projects on the go, along with helping local residents to create their CVs to aid them in finding employment.

The unemployment rate in Masiphumelele is estimated to be as high as 70-80%, making the support provided by this centre crucial. The provision of more affordable high-speed internet is also an important way to bridge the digital divide, enabling more residents to access information and training and enhance their job and earning prospects, as well as helping learners on their educational journey.

The same teams from Frogfoot and Hypa then headed to Drury Road in Vrygrond, where a clean-up was undertaken, with the local Muizenberg municipality providing refuse bags.

Through this initiative, Frogfoot RISE will continue to partner and support the local municipality with regular community clean-ups in the future.

“Providing sustainable, cost-effective fibre is having an enormous impact, yet we recognise the need to also give back to these communities in other ways. Along with our ISP partners, we want to continue to support initiatives that empower and motivate the residents of Vrygrond, Philippi and Masiphumelele,” says Chandre Beukes, Marketing Lead at Frogfoot.

“Together with our FNO partner, we aim to champion initiatives that uplift and inspire the residents of Vrygrond, Philippi, and Masiphumelele. We call on others to join us in fostering growth and opportunity in these communities. As we look to the future, we are excited to bring our impact to even more aspirational neighbourhoods,” says John Githinji – Head of Sales at Hypa Fibre.
