EasyPay Everywhere has launched a new Tech Skills Bursary to help their customer’s families – young people with an interest in Tech/STEM to complete their studies in technology related fields. This programme is exclusive to the children or dependents of active EasyPay Everywhere customers. Bursaries are available to students currently studying in fields related to Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Science, Mechatronics, Software Development, Computer Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Business Analysis, Econometrics, Mathematics and Statistics.
Up to R 100 000 for registration and tuition
The Tech Skills Bursary offers up to R100 000 per year for registration costs and tuition fees, making sure that students have the financial support they need to be able to focus on their studies. A total of nine bursaries will be awarded to students who meet the criteria, including having already completed at least their first year of study with an average of 65% or higher.
EasyPay Everywhere’s goal with these bursaries is to support South African families and give talented young people a chance to succeed. By helping pay for their studies, these talented and hard-working young people can build themselves up to be the country’s future tech leaders.
Simphiwe Phakathi, Executive Head of Sales and Distribution at EasyPay Everywhere explains that this initiative is about more than just providing funding. “We know that many of our customers want to see their children succeed but face financial barriers,” he says. “This bursary is our way of helping them give their younger family members the chance to reach their full potential in a field that’s growing fast. We want to make sure that the children of our customers have the opportunities they deserve.”
Phakathi says that the bursary programme is another way that EasyPay Everywhere is sowing its commitment to the people and communities it serves. By offering financial aid to the dependents of customers, the programme aims to help uplift those who have supported EasyPay Everywhere over the years. It’s a way of giving back and ensuring that the next generation of tech talent comes from within these families and communities.
“Technology is a big part of everything we do at EasyPay Everywhere,” Phakathi explains. “By supporting students who are studying in technology related fields, we are not only helping them; we are also investing in the future of South Africa. These young people will one day become the leaders who will drive innovation and change in our industries and communities.”
Norma Teyise, Executive Head of Human Capital at Lesaka Technologies – the company that owns EasyPay Everywhere, confirms that this bursary programme is aimed at building a pipeline of skilled young people who can become the leaders we need in South Africa’s tech space. “We want to ensure that these students are not held back by financial worries,” she explains, “and that they have all the support they need to succeed.”
How to apply
Students who are related to an active EasyPay Everywhere customer, are studying in the fields listed above, and who have completed their first year of studies with at least 65% can apply by submitting an online application form, along with their academic records and other necessary documents.
Applications are open now, and close on 30th November 2024. No late applications will be considered.
